Esher coach Craig Chalmers hailed his side’s professionalism at Blaydon and wants a repeat performance when struggling Old Albanians visit tomorrow.
The Molesey Road side remain just a point off the top of National League One after securing a five-try triumph in the north east.
Chalmers, pictured right, was left purring over the 35-25 win which featured tries from Pat O’Grady, Andy Wright (two), Spencer Sutherland and Stewart Maguire.
However, he is not getting carried away after opening the new campaign with three straight wins and has demanded more hard labour from his men this winter.
“Our guys scored some great tries and played in the right areas of the pitch,” said Chalmers. “We just made things a little bit simpler in the second half.
“We were a bit frantic in the first half and we were far more composed when we got into the goal zones. After half time and we put our chances away.
“All credit to the boys – it is a long way to go and they were really up for it. Their attitude has been fantastic both in training and on the weekends.
“The squad has a great character and that pays off on matchdays.
“The first game could have gone either way but we have got good results and we are building.
“There is so much more to come from this team and it is getting better every week. The confidence is building and the performances are building with it.”
Fly half Luke Daniels collected another 10 points and Esher will need him on song to continue their dominant start to the campaign, which has established them among the early season favourites for the title.
“Esher are looked at as one of the top dogs in the league and Old Albanians will be underdogs,” he added.
“We have got to handle the pressure of being favourites, but we will just concentrate on ourselves.”
