Weybridge Vandals head coach Aidan Turns has urged his men to stamp their authority on London Division Two South West new boys London Exiles on Saturday.
A first half Adam Bullett try – driven over from a lineout -was the only highlight as Vandals followed up last week’s opening day win over Basingstoke with a 38-7 defeat at Old Reigatians.
Exiles visit Brownacres on Vandals' Return 2 Rugby open day, which will also feature the England v Australia World Cup screened live on an outdoor big screen and free beer for any new prospective new members.
And Turns wants his side to get the party started with a dominant display against last season’s London Division Three South West champions.
“We need a big performance at home on a big day for the club,” he said.
“They are new to the league and a win for us will mean they have lost their first three games and put them in a bad place.
“It will move us away from that. We need to stamp our authority on them.”
Vandals had trailed 14-7 until two moments of madness cost them in the closing minutes of the first half at the weekend.
“We played better than we did against Basingstoke on Saturday and lost,” he said.
“We played some good stuff, but gifting them two tries through individual errors in the last three minutes of the first half meant it was game over.
“It was a frustrating and funny game to watch. They didn’t make any mistakes and scored six tries, but every mistake we made they scored from.”
