Blake Palfreyman led the England goal scoring chart, but the Tooting-based player could not guide the nation to glory at the Korfball World Championship.
Palfreyman, who plays for Bec, and his compatriots finished fourth after losing to hosts Belgium in the semi-final, and China in the third-fourth place play-off.
Belgium would eventually lose the final to Holland.
England, also featuring players from Epsom-based Nomads and Trojans of Croydon, finished top of their group with wins over Portugal (19-18), South Africa (31-13) and China (26-18).
In the second round of group games, England overcame Germany (26-15), featuring goals for Trojans’ Amy Turner, but lost to Holland (40-13) despite goals from Nomads’ Hannah Lorrimer and Bec’s Davesh Patel.
However, it was Palfreyman who topped the England scoring charts, bagging 29 goals.
