Esher director of rugby Mike Schmid has told his men to get back to what they know after being knocked off the National Division One summit on Saturday.
Tries from hooker Neil Sweeney and Harlequins scrum half Calum Waters were not enough to bridge the gap of a 20-5 half-time deficit as Rosslyn Park held on for a 20-17 win to end the Molesy Road men’s five-match winning streak and send them tumbling to third in the table.
Esher head to Blaydon tomorrow and Schmid wants a reaction after watching his men go off message in a first half horror show.
“We played high-risk rugby, tried to force off-loads and we kept turning the ball over and that’s not us. We didn’t play the game plan that had got us success of the past five weeks.
“The biggest disappointment is that we were responsible for the loss. We lost the game, they didn’t win it.”
He added: “We need to find out why we did those things. We’ll look at what we’ve done and learn from it.”
