A Fraser Deans hat-trick left director of rugby Sean Thomson purring on Wednesday as Hampton School reached the last 32 of this year’s U18s Natwest Schools’ Cup.
Deans’ exploits – added to a try from centre Zack Santos – saw Hampton beat Reigate Grammar School 38-5 in their fourth round encounter.
“This match demonstrated how passionate the boys are about this national competition,” said Thomson.
“The performance reflected their intensity and focus in attack and defence and was an all-round team effort.
“Reigate have had a very successful season and so it was rewarding to see the boys play as well as they did and the result will give them lots of confidence moving forward.”
