Wimbledon 0 Haywards Heath 15

London Two South

Haywards Heath arrived at Wimbledon placed second in the league and with their strongest team but, to their great credit, Wimbledon stopped them scoring in the second half.

The determination running through this Wimbledon team belies the run of defeats that they are finding it so difficult to break. Returning players after injuries and a more solid scrum are raising their morale and the spirit is there to escape relegation.

Lack of possession is the problem Wimbledon have but an improvement can be seen each week in the lineout and scrum and with no.8 Ben Nightingale now providing more forward momentum the signs are there for a revival.

The visitors were a capable all-round side with good players scattered through their team, that they have failed to reveal this twice this season against Wimbledon shows the determination in the Dons.

Haywards Heath used the wind well in the first half with some good kicks to pin Wimbledon back but their place kicking was less accurate and they failed to convert one try and at least one penalty attempt. But to their credit and organisation they kept Wimbledon well away from scoring in the second half when it was their turn to have the advantage of the wind.

Next Saturday Wimbledon will be at home to play Guildford, a team they have defeated once already this season, let us hope a second victory against them can be achieved. The kick-off will be at 2.15pm.
