Datchworth 15 Twickenham 3 Half term holidays combined with the second half of the season injuries meant Twickenham travelled to rural Datchworth with a very young and inexperienced team.

The outcome was that they were defeated comprehensively by a very ordinary Datchworth side who, prior to this match, had only notched up one other win during the season.

This was a dismal performance from Ts who, apart from the first five minutes of the game when Phil Astbury scored their only points, a penalty, they never looked like threatening to score, and were beaten in the lineouts, out-rucked, out-mauled, and the backs failed to use what ball they did win with any real purpose.

The only positive to be gained from this game for them was that scrum-half Ben Smith, on debut, put in a very competent performance but was restricted to a passing game due the service he was given.

Veteran prop Mike Nicholson also got through a tremendous amount of work before being injured and there were some rampaging drives from second row Stewart Ware. But in the final analysis Ts were just did not have the weight, basic skills or experience to have any real impact on the game.
