Twickenham RFC, a friendly rugby club with the most famous name in the sport, has a thriving minis section but is short of players in the U9s age group. The club, based in South Road, Hampton, offers top-class coaching for youngsters wanting to take up the sport. Anyone interested should come to training this Sunday, or the following week, from 10am, complete with boots and mouth guard. For more details on the club go to twickenhamyouthrugby.com
BACK ON TRACK: The return of key players made a huge difference as Twickenham took on Harpenden at home and triumphed 24-12 in London Three North West last Saturday. It was not faultless, as they allowed the visitors two tries in the last quarter, but it was still a convincing win against a side on a three-match winning streak. Tries from Ronnie Howden (two), Russell Witham and Phil Moses secured the points for Twickenham.JONES AT THE DOUBLE: Old Hamptonians were another team to bounce back from defeat at the weekend, running in six tries to three at home to Barnet Elizabethans to record a 39-17 victory. Mark Jones grabbed a first-half brace, with Rupert Calvert, Andy Jones, Guy Baker and Jonathan Bawden also touching down.SHAPELY VASE: Chiswick warmed up for EDF Energy Junior Vase quarter-final against Southmead this weekend with their 19th consecutive victory last Saturday, a 40-12 win at home to Hitchin. Shane Donaldson, Nico Fryer, Ben Cheston, Keith Luckman got a try apiece before Marc Jones added a late double.
