London Welsh coach Danny Wilson insists it will be business as usual for his playing and coaching staff, despite the club entering administration this week.

The Dragons stunned the rugby world on Tuesday by announcing they have called in Tenon Recovery to oversee the situation, which could potentially see the famous club, who turned professional last season, go out of business within a month.

But Wilson revealed he has been told to carry on with pre-season training regardless of the turbulent backdrop.

He said: “The first we knew about it was when the official statement was released on Tuesday and it came as a bit of a shock.

“But we have been told to carry on business as normal and everyone here is still motivated on working towards our first league game at Bristol on September 5.

“Everyone at the club seems confident that something will be sorted, and nothing has really changed for us.

“All we can do is keep on working hard, concentrating on doing our jobs well and carry on doing that until we get told otherwise.”

The Dragons’ shocking news was made all the more mystifying by a mass recruitment drive in the preceeding weeks that saw a host of high-profile names move to Old Deer Park, including Ben Gotting from Wasps and Sale Sharks duo Michael Hills and Joe Horn-Smith.

And Wilson reckons that if the Exiles do pull through, there will be plenty of reason for optimism.

He added: “We have been in training for two weeks now and things are going really well.

“I am extremely excited about the squad that we have here now - there is no doubt it is stronger than last year.

“I’m delighted with all the staff and we have to try and carry on as though nothing has changed.”

London Welsh host an open day on July 4 at Westminster University Fields, where fans can watch the players train and meet the squad.
