Coach Danny Wilson is urging his London Welsh side to develop a ruthless streak as the Dragons look to surge up the Championship table.
Having been squeezed on the road in both of their opening league encounters at Bristol and Nottingham, the Exiles earned their first win with a comfortable 37-12 dispatching of visitors Birmingham & Solihull last weekend.
The five-try success saw Welsh erase their five-point deduction for entering administration over the summer, and Wilson wants to use that as a springboard.
He said: “It takes time to develop as a squad and we have been a ruthless side in the past.
“I remember beating Sedgley Park 60-0 here last season - that was a professional performance.
“We have to strive to be totally ruthless against sides like Birmingham.
“We were only two-thirds professional - for a third we were not and that is not good enough.”
Paul Sampson (two), Tom Brown (two) and Eerie Claassens grabbed the tries as Welsh romped to a 32-0 lead, only for Birmingham to stage a late rally.
And Wilson admitted he had mixed feelings over the victory.
He added: “In the first half we were excellent.
“We played some good rugby and were pretty clinical.
“Although after the break was not so good I’m nit-picking - our objective was five points, we got them and I’m happy.”
The Dragons head to Rotherham this weekend to meet another side with one win from their first three games.
And the Exiles coach is tipping his side to boost their tally.
Wilson added: “Coming off the back of the Birmingham result, and the two bonus points we picked up at Bristol and Nottingham, I think we need to go to Rotherham targeting a win.
“But it is a tough, tough venue, and we will be working hard in training to put together a gameplan.”
London Welsh’s next three fixtures: Sep 26 Rotherham (a), Oct 3 Bedford (h), 10 Exeter (a)
