Florent Rossigneaux reckons outside-half Ross Laidlaw is the missing piece of the puzzle as Rosslyn Park gun for promotion from National League Two this season.

Former London Irish and Saracens back Laidlaw arrived at Priory Lane in the summer as part of Park’s aggressive recruitment campaign.

And after guiding Rosslyn to their third win of the campaign, a 28-13 triumph at Richmond last weekend, Rossigneaux feels he has the right man.

He said: “Last season our kicking game was not very special.

“We were very comfortable with the ball in hand but we were lacking in options.

“In the summer we went looking for someone who would bring some quality to our kicking game and Ross certainly fits the bill.

“He is a very experienced player and has played at a higher level and he brings a different dimension to the side.

“Ross can guide the team and he is just the influence we need.”

James Strong (two), Adam Gates and Alex Cadwallader were the Rosslyn try heroes as Park killed the game early on with a 15-point burst in the opening ten minutes, before easing through the rest of the contest.

And Rossigneaux was delighted with how his side went about their business.

He added: “We started strongly and put ourselves in a great position but we were not able to sustain that.

“There was a great atmosphere - it was a local derby and everyone wanted to do well.

“We improved a lot in terms of organisation and we showed a lot of continuity.

“In patches we were excellent and the key for us now is to keep that performance level going for the full 80 minutes.

“If we do that we have a great chance of succeeding this season.”
