Wimbledon went down to a 25-12 home defeat to Gravesend in London League Two South on Saturday.
Although there was nothing between the teams for the first 25 minutes, Dons began to struggle against a well-drilled Gravesend team, whose speed in numbers to the breakdown and superior ball-winning technique gave the visitors an increasing supply of quick possession. And their talented back line made full use of it.
Despite conceding a third try just two minutes into the second half to go 25-0 down, Dons not only prevented any further Gravesend scores but crossed the visitors’ line twice in the last 10 minutes.
Substitute Dave Charles made the break that put the hard-working Dave Rees over for the first, then rounded off a good backs move to score the second himself, which Rees converted.
Dons face bottom-of the-table Maidstone next week.
