Florent Rossigneaux is urging his Rosslyn Park side to land a psychological blow when they travel to unbeaten Barking this weekend.

Park will head to Essex without a loss to their name themselves, having maintained their winning start with a 29-5 victory over visitors Lydney on Saturday.

And Rossigneaux reckons the weekend clash will have major implications for their National League Two South promotion aspirations.

He said: “Barking will be a massive physical challenge - the biggest we have faced this season by far.

“They play a lot of rugby among their forwards and their front five are extremely powerful.

“But if we have any ambition to go up this season these are the games you have to win.

“If we can go there and win it will give us a big lift psychologically and mentally it will put us in a great position for the rest of the season.”

Park adapted well to the blustery conditions to see off their visitors from the West Country at the weekend, Alex Cadwallader, Nick Huggett, Anthony Fenner and James Strong crossing to earn a bonus point in a bruising encounter.

And Rossigneaux reckoned it had been exactly the type of encounter he imagined.

He added: “It was a very physical contest but we knew that was how they were going to come and play.

“I thought we responded very well to the challenge, although we could probably have killed the game off a lot earlier.

“We started well and put ourselves in a great position but we really had to fight to get the bonus point at the end, but we were well worth it.

“There were a lot of bumps and bruises and stitches after the game but that builds character.

“We now have this week to give the players a breather a be ready for Barking.”
