Danny Wilson has challenged his London Welsh side to keep their foot on the gas as the Dragons look to maintain their hot streak in the Championship.
Last weekend’s 28-17 defeat of Bedford saw Welsh extend their winning streak to three games after narrow defeats in their opening two encounters of the season.
But with league leaders Exeter Chiefs next on the horizon, Wilson wants no let-up in his side’s displays.
He said: “Saturday’s win was a big step in the right direction for us but there is still a long way to go.
“If we thought Bedford was a tough game this weekend will be even tougher.
“It is a long road that we are on and sides like Exeter, on and off the pitch, are the markers for us in this league.
“We will go there confident but they deserve massive respect, and we will have to raise our game again.”
Paul Sampson and Errie Claassens (two) were the try-scoring heroes as Welsh put Bedford to the sword on a blustery day at Old Deer Park.
And Wilson was delighted with how his side had coped.
He added: “The conditions had a massive effect and there is no doubt we played them better than Bedford.
“We were excellent defensively and we put them under a lot of pressure.
“I think that pressure forced a couple of our tries and considering Bedford had not conceded a single try before that game to score three was a great achievement.”
Wilson also took time out to praise Claassens, with the winger already having notched four tries since his arrival from Rotherham in the summer.
The coach added: “Errie has been a great signing for us.
“He was the first player I targeted in the off-season and he has rewarded us for chasing him.
“He is relishing being in a full-time environment and I think he can develop even further.”
London Welsh’s next three matches: Oct 10 Exeter (a), 17 Cornish Pirates (h), 24 Moseley (a)
