Purley John Fisher went down 22-11 at a well-drilled Old Reigatians XV in a howling gale on Saturday, writes Martin Bruck.

PJF stayed in touch during the first half, scoring a flowing try when Mark Coughlan’s sublime break allowed the supporting David Sia to cross for five points.

Indeed, two penalties meant PJF trailed just 15-11 with minutes left, but a final attack by the hosts in the dying seconds gave them breathing space.

PJF's third XV posted a tremendous result in beating previously unbeaten Old Reigatians 24-17.

The visitors scored three tries inside 15 minutes to take a 17-0 lead, but PJF showed tremendous resolve to score 24 unanswered points and win the game.

Club chairman Richard Cebreiro led the way gaining valuable territory as he boshed it up the middle, aided and abetted by Man of the Match no 8 Luke O'Shea and young Chopper.

From continued re-cycling and through several phases PJF scored two tries from rucks less than 5 metres out. Cebreiro and then Crumplin both scored 5 points and full back Cashinella added one conversion.

In the second half a concerted effort from the PJF XV saw them add tries by O'Shea who charged down a kick and followed up to secure the bobbling ball and score.

Then a masterful cross field kick by hooker Andy MacHugh found scrumhalf Nick Crumplin in space on the wing and he crossed the try line unchallenged. Kudzai added a supreme two points and thereafter PJF defended their socks off to repel the onslaught in the dying stages.
