Florent Rossigneaux has targeted a 20-point haul ahead of the Christmas break as Rosslyn Park look to boost their promotion hopes from National League Two South.

Saturday's grim 14-11 win over visitors Shelford, coupled with league leaders Barking's defeat at Clifton, leaves Park eight points off the top with a game in hand.

And with fixtures against the league's lesser lights on the horizon, Rossigneaux has urged his troops to take advantage.

He said: “It is very much in our hands and that is what we want, rather than having to worry about what is going on elsewhere.

“The aim now is to get bonus points from every game.

“Obviously we wanted that against Shelford but the conditions put paid to that.

“We have four games to go until Christmas and we have to feel confident that we can get 20 points from those games.

“We have played all the top teams in the league and now we have to capitalise against the weaker sides.”

Rosslyn had a Ross Laidlaw penalty with the last kick of the game to thank for their weekend win, with Nick Huggett crossing for the solitary try.

Despite the scoreline, Rossigneaux was satisfied with the display in the conditions.

He added: “I knew it was going to be bad, but not that bad.

“There is nothing nice to say about the game other than that we won.

“I still liked the way that the boys stuck together and battled hard for the full 80 minutes.

“We did not use any substitutes as I felt it would have taken too long for a player to have got into the game.

“That game will be a very good reference point for us and we have to show that same spirit moving forward.”
