Old Whitgiftians back Peter Small will miss England Deaf’s international with Wales at Broadstreet on Sunday (1pm) with a back injury.
He suffered a shoulder injury playing for his club last weekend, so Wheatley Hills utility back Gavin Jackson will take Small’s place on the replacements bench.
The match will again be played for the Broadstreet Cup which was inaugurated at the corresponding fixture at the same venue two years ago when Wales won 66-7.
The English Deaf Rugby Union was formed in 2003 to give deaf and hard of hearing rugby players an opportunity to represent their country.
Players are qualified to play for the England Deaf team if they a combined average hearing loss of 25db or more in both ears. This roughly translates to a minimum hearing loss in both ears or a moderate hearing loss in one ear.
