Warlingham coach Bill Maynard saw his tries run in six tries - but admitted they could still play better.

Ben Wimble and Jon Osborne scored two tries apiece with Ben Wiseman and Dave Stamp also going over in a convincing victory. Four of the tries were converted by Joe Chivers.

Maynard said: “Scoring six tries against that opposition was very pleasing and our teamwork was much better. But there is still a lot to do to bring out the best in our team.”

Playing against the elements in the first half, Warlingham went immediately on the attack. The first try came when full-back Alex Glover joined the line and winger Wimble misfooted his opposite number to score the first try.

However, from KCS’s first concerted pressure, Warlingham were caught offside and KCS kicked the resulting penalty.

Warlingham always looked strong going forward with prop James Delderfield and the Street brothers making telling drives.

Some scrappy open play led to winger Jon Osborne finding space for himself and, after some fine inter-passing with Oli Doe, scoring the second try.

Then, with the pack camped on the home line for some minutes, lock Ben Wiseman crashed over for the third try, giving Chivers the easiest of conversions.

The second half brought more of the same. Replacement fly-half Ryan Walsh’s deft chip bounced well for hard-chasing centre Dave Stamp to canter over for a try that Chivers converted.

Further good work from Richard Melford and Tom Street put severe pressure on KCS, who valiantly tried to play catch-up rugby, but an interception from Wimble saw him speed past a lone opposition prop for the fifth try. Chivers again added the conversion.

Warlingham’s final try came after several passages of play. Prop Alex Nunn took the ball towards the home try line and, after taking a crashing title, skilfully slipped the ball out for Osborne to finish the move.

A desperate try-saving tackle from John Wright denied KCS a score, but the home side did eventually manage a seven-point score, but that did nothing to take the gloss off Warlingham’s win.
