Charlie Greenhill scored a hat-trick of tries on Saturday as Streatham-Croydon cruised to a comfortable home win over Ald Amplefordians at Frant Road.
Streatham were looking for revenge after going down narrowly away earlier in the season and they started strongly, with Patryk Kowalski prominent in the loose and Charley 'Chisel’ Johnes effective in the tight.
A try from Greenhill after some strong running from the pack was a sign of things to come.
Ald Amplefordians equalised to make it 7-7 but then Streatham’s superior running and handling saw them pull away with tries from Simon Hampton and Mannie Pryce making it 19-7 at half-time.
Ald Amplefordians scored a fine try of their own to remind the Streatham faithful there was still a game on.
But this only served to inspire Streatham as they ran in three more tries from top scorer Aaron Brown and two more from Greenhill a hat-trick and 21 points not enough to earn him the man of the match award which went to the inspirational Hampton.
Coach Bob Dean was annoyed as Streatham allowed Ald Amplefordians two soft tries in the final five minutes as they lost concentration, giving the final shoreline making it look a lot closer than it was at 36-26.
"It was a very satisfying performance", said Dean afterwards.
"It sets us up nicely for a trip into the unknown to play Old Radleians for the first time."
Old Rads forfeited the fixture in November when the RFU refused to allow a league fixture to be moved to allow them to play against their college side.
They were also deducted two points for this, something Streatham can relate to.
