Tries from Jonny Howe, Cassian Bramham-Law and skipper Jon Cottam saw Weybridge Vandals end a seven-match losing streak to beat London Cornish 20-10 on Saturday.
Head coach Ian Bardgett’s men lead 13-10 at half-time before bucking the trend of recent weeks to withstand a spirited Cornish fight-back.
Man-of-the-match Cottam crossed after the break to extend his side’s advantage to ten points as a tremendous rearguard action ensured a first win since November.
Vandals, who welcomed back fit-again lock Andy Howe to first-team action at the weekend, host bottom-club Winchester this week as they look to continue their climb away from the foot of the London Division Two South West table.
Vandals’ next three matches: Feb 27 Winchester (h), Mar 6 Twickenham (a), 20 London South Africa (h).
