Danny Wilson insists that London Welsh will be able to move on from last weekend’s thumping by Bristol when they head into the Championship play-offs next month.
The Dragons were out-thought and out-fought by the league leaders on Saturday, crashing to a 28-3 defeat in front of the largest crowd of the season at Old Deer Park, 2,150.
And with Bristol likely to be an obstacle again when the Exiles head into the promotion mix in March, Wilson has vowed to take heed.
He said: “We will learn the lessons from that game when we head into the play-offs, I am sure about that.
“We didn’t do what we said we would do and it was very frustrating that we had a game plan but did not execute it.
“We were off pattern and we did not play the style of rugby we are good at.”
Aled Thomas’ penalty was all Welsh had to show for their efforts in a game that was lost by half-time with Bristol having racked up a 23-3 lead.
And Wilson accepted the West Country giants are far too good a side to give a head start.
He added: “We made far too many errors and as we were not holding onto the ball for long enough, Bristol were getting a lot of ‘start-again’ ball.
“When the pressure was on we panicked and tried to force the game, rather than stick to the shape and pattern we have worked at.
“They are too good a side to get as much ball as we gave them - sides like Bristol will punish you for that, and they did.”
The Dragons have just one league game remaining, at Cornish Pirates, but first up is a Friday night trip to Ulster for their fourth match in the British & Irish Cup.
London Welsh’s next three matches: Feb 26 Ulster (a), Mar 6 Llanelli (h), 13 Cornish Pirates (a)
