Florent Rossigneaux is elated Rosslyn Park have their future in their own hands after a nail-biting win at promotion rivals Ealing last weekend.

Park’s 9-8 triumph, thanks to a last-gasp missed conversion by the home side, sees Rossigneaux’s men move into second spot in National League Two South, four points behind leaders Barking.

And with the second-placed side qualifying for a one-game promotion play-off, the French coach has urged his side to take their chance.

Rossigneaux said: “We are in control of our own destiny and that is all you can ask for.

“Winning at Ealing has put massive pressure on them when they play Barking and we can benefit from that.

“Our ambition is very much to win the league but if we finish second and go to a play-off so be it.

“We just need to keep winning our games and pick up as many bonus points as we can along the way.”

Ross Laidlaw appeared to have booted Park to a vital win on Saturday, only for Ollie Lyndsay-Hague to inexplicably attempt a quick line-out in his own 22 as the final seconds passed, allowing Ealing to steal the ball and score.

But Rossigneaux adopted the philosophical approach rather than lambast his winger.

He added: “Ollie held his hands up after the game but nobody had a go at him as thankfully we still won.

“It was a bit of inexperience on his part and he will learn from it.

“Ollie has been a big part of our success this season so there is nothing gained from criticising him.

“We have put ourselves in a great position now so the key is to look forward not back.

“We have Bridgwater on Saturday and if we approach each game in the same way we will succeed.”

Rosslyn Park’s next three matches: Mar 6 Bridgwater & Albion (h), 13 Shelford (a), 27 Henley (a)
