Old Whitgiftians came out on top in a Surrey One game featuring plenty of attacking rugby on Saturday, writes Bob Schad.
Some good kicking from Graham Jordan allowed the hosts to force some good early pressure, which resulted in a try under the posts for Tom Dunsmore. Les Todd converted this and added a penalty shortly afterwards.
However, some adventurous passing from the home side allowed Farnham back into the game with a converted interception try.
But Ows remained in the ascendancy thanks to an excellent varied line-out, with Tom Hipsey to the fore, while Nathan Taylor was sharp at scrum-half.
Another excellent passing movement brought a try for Quintin Keanie, giving Whits a 15-7 half-time lead.
After the restart, more slick passing produced an opportunity for Les Todd to stretch OWs’ lead with another try.
But a clash of heads forced OWs to replace two players and Farnham started to get back into the game, scoring a penalty and two further tries.
OWs secured victory when a break by Todd brought a try for John Moffatt.
