Staines moved closer to the London One North title with an impressive victory over Brentwood on Saturday.
They opened the scoring early on, Smith gathering the ball out wide and outstripping the Brentwood cover to score. Fly-half David Knills converted.
Brentwood opened their scoring with two penalties, while Wells landed a kick for the hosts.
The home side then opened up a considerable lead when number eight Carr received a great inside pass before offloading for Knill to dummy and dart through for a try.
Brentwood responded with a try of their own when their talented young fly-half Burr created a fine try for wing Solomons.
Lock forwatrd Junior Harrison, on loan from Esher, was gaining prominence and a midfield break led to the ball being whipped out for wing Jamie Staniforth to score. Wells’ conversion stretched Staines’ lead to 24-11 as half-time approached.
Staines’ forwards were on top in the second half, particulary at the set-piece, and Wells’ penalty nudged them further in front.
Then, centre Heke made a telling break, holding up the ball long enough to slip for number eight Carr to score. Wells kicked the conversion to make it 34-11.
Staines were now in total control and, from a scrum, Carr took the ball on and a driving maul propelled prop Gibson over to score. Wells again added the extras.
Turner, moved from the back row to the wing in place of the injured Staniforth, was next to score, showing considerable pace to chip ahead and gather the ball. Wells’ conversion made it 48-11.
The final score came when an outrageous dummy took Gibson 30m up the field before Clearly fed Shanahan for the try.
Wing forward Mursal impressed with his speed and handling for Staines and hooker Shanahan was again prominent, while prop forward Frazer Gibson was named man-of-the-match for his all-round contribution.
Staines visit bottom side Welwyn on Saturday.
