Teddington chairman Gareth Cross reckons the prospect of a Twickenham final could carry his side to a league and cup double.
Head coach Giselle Mather’s men are two wins from an appearance in the National Junior Vase final and travel to Eastern Counties Division One leaders Newmarket on Saturday for a place in the national semi-finals.
The Bushy Park-club have already wrapped up the Surrey Division One title with a perfect winning record from 14 games thus far and Cross reckons his side’s winning mentality can see them make history.
“This is the furthest that Teddington have ever gone in the National Cup, so it’s a real landmark for us,” he said.
“We have made tremendous strides forward as a club over the last few years, which is clearly demonstrated by us already winning the league this season and being promoted three times in the last four years.
“To make it through so many rounds of the national cup against strong teams from all over the region - most of which have been played away - is a real testament to the dedication and spirit of all the players and coaching team.
“And a Twickenham final, although still two steps away, is the goal driving us right through to the end of the season. It would be a wonderful way to top off another successful season.”
