Florent Rossigneaux reckons Rosslyn Park are playing for second spot in National League Two South after Barking squeezed to victory at Ealing last weekend.

While Park were idle, leaders Barking scraped a 21-19 win on the road, moving them eight points ahead of Rossigneaux’s men.

But, with second spot guaranteeing a play-off berth, the French coach wants no let up in his side’s efforts.

Rossigneaux said: “To be honest I had hoped Ealing would win as that would have kept things interesting.

“Winning the title is now out of our hands and it all comes down to how Barking finish the season.

“We are still positive as we are obviously still chasing promotion but it would have been nice to still have a sniff of top spot.

“For us now we have to concentrate on what we do and making sure we keep that second spot our own.”

Park travel to Henley this weekend as they return to action.

And Rossigneaux is quick to warn against any form of complacency.

He added: “There are still quite a few games on the schedule that could prove a danger to us.

“Henley is one of those - they are a very proud side and we know what they are capable of.

“They have improved a lot over the last couple of months and they have a little bit more about them than their league position would suggest.

“Having said all that, I still expect us to win.

“We have to approach the game in the right way.

“We did no training last weekend as I thought it was the perfect chance to give the players a break.

“It was an opportunity for a low-key week to freshen the mind and body and now we need to gear up again for the final stretch.”
