Old Glynonians sealed the Surrey Four league crown with a game to spare thanks to Saturday’s 53-7 victory over Reigate.

Glynonians were rampant in the first half, with imposing performances from the forwards, led by Gregg and Turner, tearing the opposing front eight to threads.

Youngsters Jonathan Yates and Simon Pawson gave strong performances in the half back positions to release a hungry and enthusiastic back line.

It didn’t take Glynonians long to cross the white line, with Ben Rawlinson’s opening effort opening the floodgates.

Seven further tries were scored, Mark Godwin capping an impressive wing display with a bright, with only a solo effort from Reigate’s fly-half late on blotting their copybook.

Skipper Richard Holmden said: “Winning the league is a fantastic feeling and an accolade the boys thoroughly deserve.

“We set out for the league and Surrey Bowl at the start of the season, so will quickly reset our focus on the semi-final coming up at the end of April.”

OGs’ final league fixture is against Woking at Priest Hill on April 10, before that semi-final clash with Merton on April 24.
