Rosslyn Park winger James Strong has shrugged off praise for his try-scoring exploits by insisting it is his teammates that deserve the plaudits.

Strong helped himself to a four-try haul at Henley on Saturday as Rosslyn kept alive their promotion dreams with a 47-22 win.

And after taking his tally for the season to 20, the 29-year-old was eager to pay his own tribute.

Strong said: “I know it is a cliche but it is all about being in the right place at the right time.

“I am just happy to be on the end of try-scoring passes.

“Since the pitches have started firming up we have really been playing a more expansive style and I am profiting.

“I am second in the try-scoring charts for the league now and if the team carries on like they are I reckon I have a chance of finishing top.”

Will Collier (two) and Amo Tauialo were the other scorers in the weekend romp, which kept Park hot on the heels of National Division Two South leaders Barking.

And Strong admits the Rosslyn squad are starting to cast an eye over the end-of-season permutations.

He added: “Obviously we are going all out to win every game and win the league but we may have to settle for the play-offs.

“It seems as though Macclesfield and Loughborough University are pushing in the North division so we may well end up facing either of those.

“But we cannot afford to take our eye off the ball.

“We have Worthing this weekend and they are one of the sides to beat us this season, and everybody is well aware of that.

“They are an in-form team and we have to make sure we treat every game as important if we are to achieve our ambitions.”
