Grasshoppers bounced back from conceding a converted try in the opening five minutes to thump Finchley 66-10 on Saturday.

Some excellent running rugby eventually allowed winger Tom Woodhouse room to score a converted try and bring the sides level.

Gs then showed the form they had been promising in recent weeks, cruising ahead with a try and conversion from stand-off Stuart Daniels.

Then, some forward power-play resulted in flanker Olly Grindod driving over from a line-out, Daniels’ conversion making it 21-7.

Although Finchley kicked a penalty, Gs scored two more tries before half time, firstly from Daniels who again added the conversion and then from winger Matt Orishaguna.

Gs started the second half in more try-scoring form, with Micky Freeman bulldozing over from 10m out and Daniels’ conversion bringing the hosts up to 40 points.

Then Stuart Daniels slipped in for his hat-trick try and converted it to further stretch Grasshoppers lead.

Then given a perfect platform from a scrum 10 metres out scrum half Remmy Coventry, forced his way over and Daniels added another conversion.

Then centre, Tom Orishaguna, not to be outdone by his brother got on the score sheet with a try which was converted by Daniels to take his personal match tally to 31 points.

The final action of the day saw full back, David Byrd score and unconverted try to make the final score 66-10.
