Director of rugby Geoff Richards has hailed his team's recent turnaround after Richmond continued their fine run with an empahtic 52-12 win over Shelford on Saturday.

Richmond are currently on a three-match unbeaten run and tries from Johnny Wehbe, Chris Glynn, Darryl Marfo, David Brown (2), Luke Cousins and David West (2) helped to secure the team's highest-scoring win of the season.

Richards insisted the team have now put their terrible mid-season form behind them and admitted their first-half performance at the weekend was the best of the year.

“It's been a tremendous turnaround for us,” he said.

“We went up to Shelford earlier in the season and we were heavily beaten and things just seemed to conspire against us.

“But on Saturday it all came together, particularly in the first half, when we just dominated and we found ourselves 35-0 up at half-time. It was extremely pleasing to come away with a really big win.”

Richmond now occupy a comfortable mid-table spot in the National 2 South League but some fans are worried that a lack of motivation could bring this fine run of form to a shuddering halt.

But Richards insisted his players will not lose focus and the Australian coach has already set his sights on next year's monumental season.

“I've told the players we need to finish the season off as well as we possibly can. It's now a case of maintaining the high standards we've set ourselves and playing to our potential,” he added.

Richmond’s next three games: Apr 3 Lydney (a), 10 Barking (h), 17 Canterbury (a).
