London Welsh head coach Phil Greening has challenged his squad to make Old Deer Park an intimidating venue for visitors after getting their home campaign off to a flyer last weekend.
The Dragons romped to a 33-9 win over Birmingham & Solihull on Saturday, banishing memories of the pitiful display at the Cornish Pirates.
And Greening has demanded more of the same as the Championship season rolls on.
He said: “It was a very big moment for a lot of the players, to get out there for our first home game.
“It is very important for the club and its supporters that we perform well at home and we have to make this place a fortress.
“The simple fact is if we win our home games this season we will be right up there, and that has to be the aim.”
Liam Gibson, Marc Breeze, Josh Drauniniu and Aled Thomas crossed for tries as the Exiles rumbled to a bonus-point win.
But the coach has backed his side to find a few more gears yet.
Greening added: “It was still a little bit scrappy but we’re trying things and we’re working hard.
“A bonus-point and no tries against, we’ll take that.
“A couple of times in their 22 we gave away stupid penalties and that took the pressure off them, and when we get in behind teams we’re not being clinical enough or they’re trying to slow the ball up and we’re not dealing with that.
“There’s a lot of potential but unfortunately potential doesn’t win you championships - you’ve got to deliver.”
The Dragons travel to Plymouth Albion this weekend looking to build on their encouraging start.
And Greening is expecting another stern examination.
He added: “It’s always tough down there.
“Every week in this Championship is a challenge that we’ve got to face and deal with.
“The boys know what they’ve got to do to get a win down there and we have to raise it another level.”
London Welsh’s next three matches: Sep 18 Plymouth Albion (a), 25 Rotherham (h), Oct 1 Esher (a)
