Director of rugby Chris MacGowan reckoned London Irish Amateurs were below par – even though they thumped Chobham 43-13 last Saturday.
Matt Guy (two), Connor Browne, Lawrence Price and Lewis Chance scored tries for Irish, but Magowan says Irish must improve at league favourites Juddians this Saturday.
He said: “To be below par and score five tries is a score I will take.
“We perhaps tried too hard to make things happen. This side knows how to be patient and we will reinforce that in training.”
Head coach Jamie Balls added "I took the opportunity this week of giving several fringe players a run, I am happy with the depth we are creating but you have to keep players interested with game time.
“It was an opportunity to see what other guys can offer at this level, especially given we meet League favourites Juddians in Tonbridge this Saturday.”
