London Welsh head coach Phil Greening is expecting a huge physical test when Rotherham Titans visit Old Deer Park for tomorrow’s Championship clash (3pm).
Both clubs have made impressive starts to the season, each recording three wins from their opening four league fixtures, and just points difference separates Welsh from Rotherham in the table.
It will be just the Exiles’ second home match of the season after three games on the road, and last weekend saw them grind out a 21-10 victory at Plymouth Albion to move up to fourth.
Just one place behind them, however, lie the Titans who continued their eye-catching start to the campaign with a 37-31 win at home to Nottingham.
London Welsh head coach Phil Greening said: “Rotherham bring another huge challenge but one we relish. They bring physicality and have already started this season showing that they want to be competitive. I’m expecting a great game and one all at London Welsh are looking forward to.
“As always up front is where everything starts so I’m looking forward to seeing how our pack reacts to what Rotherham can bring. This will be a really good test for us.
“Our defence has been okay so far this season, but our main focus is our overall standards and making sure we hit those. If we do that then everything should take care of itself.
“Discipline will of course be key on Saturday but not just in regards to playing to the laws, but having discipline in all we do and attention to detail. Keeping the discipline to be professional is always important.
“On our last outing at home we came away with a bonus-point win over Birmingham & Solihull and it’s massively important that we carry that forward and try to make Old Deer Park a fortress, and a ground to be proud of.”
