Streatham-Croydon finally begin their 2010-11 league campaign away at Egham Hollowegians on Saturday, with coach Bob Dean urging his side to lay down a marker for the Surrey Four season.
The Streatham coach wants his side to become the team that no-one wants to play having been relegated last season despite finishing third bottom in Surrey Three.
He said: "I want us to record a result on Saturday that leaves no-one in any doubt as to the level we should be playing at.
"First and foremost we want a win.
"But if players lose focus and don't do what we have been doing in training, then we will be vulnerable.
"It's really important that we keep our concentration and focus throughout the entire 80 minutes and maintain a high standard."
Meanwhile, the club has been drawn at home against Merton in the first round of the RFU Junior Vase on October 16.
Streatham have already beaten Merton 19-17 in a friendly earlier this season and have played their south London neighbours regularly over the last few years, notably in a Surrey Bowl semi-final at Rugby Lane in Cheam under lights, where Streatham ran out 32-8 winners.
Both teams knocked out Kent Two sides in the preliminary round, Streatham beating Old Williamsonians 19-0 and Merton defeating Brockleians 32-5.
