Wimbledon fell at the semi-final stage of the Cockspur Club Twenty20 competition at the Rose Bowl last week as they lost to eventual champions Swardeston.
Skipper Neil Turk’s team had qualified by winning the Surrey, south area and south regional finals before crashing by nine-runs in front of the Sky Sports cameras in Hampshire.
The Dons had restricted Swardeston to a modest 103-9 – with Sebastian Franke-Matthecka taking four wickets – but the south London side struggled to cope with their opponent's spin attack and only William Leith (18) found any success.
