Esher RFC are putting on some medieval merrymaking tonight (Friday) at their big clash with London Welsh.
Fans can go back to basics in an ale-swigging, eleventh century-style festivity.
The evening presents an extension of the George and the Dragon tale, which represents both the English saint George and the Welsh mythical serpent.
A variety of entertainment will be provided, including an inflatable jousting game, medieval stocks for soaking the deserving characters, and a testosterone-induced “bench the wench” competition, whereby those who think they are ‘man enough’ can prove it by bench-pressing a trusting female companion.
Chivalric costumes are highly encouraged, with a free drink for those who dress for the occasion, and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed lord, lady, knight, wench, maid or peasant. Medieval music and grub will be available to really get into the spirit of things, and with all this in store it’s bound to be a knight to remember!
