After losing their first four London One matches of the season, Sutton & Epsom ran out 30-12 winners over Thanet Wanderers on Saturday.
Four tries gave them a bonus point and lifts them six places up the table to ninth.
Sutton started at a fast and furious pace that the opposition found hard to defend and Thanet second row Anthony Bonfa was soon spending 10 minutes in the sin bin.
The hosts took advantage when captain Scott Wallbank picked up and lock Austin Sheppard completed the score 15m right to the wide of the posts.
Sutton’s lead was reduced to two points when stand-off Richard Eldridge kicked a penalty for Thanet.
From the kick-off Sutton pressed again and, after Ben Chapple forced his way to the 5m line, lock Sheppard crashed over for his second try converted by Steve Munford.
All of Thanet’s points came from the boot of Eldridge, Munford landing a penalty for Sutton, who also had Gary Nash yellow-carded.
Then, after Sutton lock Felix Symonds won the ball, quick passing saw the ball move to Sutton wing Keith Middleton, playing his first league game for 18 months following a serious shoulder injury, charged upfield before Wallbank to set up White who ran in for the third try.
White became the third Sutton player to be yellow carded but the home side continued to dominate and Munford stretched their lead with a long-range penalty.
In the dying seconds, Sutton clinched a bonus point when Wallbank took a short pass and shurgged off two tacklers to score with Munford adding the extras. Sutton visit Hove this Saturday (2.30pm).
