Jan Bonney has urged his Rosslyn Park squad not to get carried away and start looking at the bigger picture when there could be a banana skin right under their noses.

Park are the in-form side in National One and closed to within six points of leaders Ealing Trailfinders on Saturday thanks to 59-12 win over Birmingham & Solihull - their eighth victory in nine matches.

Thoughts could easily now turn to their trip to Ealing on December 17, the final game before Christmas, but before then they must overcome home games with Blaydon and Barking - with Bonney insisting they have tunnel vision just for this Saturday's clash.

"We are playing well but we need to keep the focus going into the next games, that's the most challenging thing at the moment," he said.

"I am always pretty cautious now, we have a couple of home games coming up and there are always banana skins waiting for you - Blaydon and Barking could be just that.

"This weekend, first and second play in Ealing and Fylde and fourth and fifth play each other in Jersey and Coventry but all that is out of our hands.

"It is only in our hands to pay Blaydon and win the game - we are not even talking about bonus points, just winning the game first and foremost.

"Blaydon have some good players and are capable of beating the top sides so we cannot afford to take any of these games lightly.

"That's the message we are giving to the players and they know that.

"We have got two home games and then Ealing away, so it would be easy to think only of the Ealing game but if we do that we will lose to Blaydon and Barking.

"We must take it a game at a time and every game is a big game at the moment."

Park surged into an early lead on Saturday and never relinquished it, with tries going to Paul Unseld (two), Miles Mantella (two), Graham Barr, John Rudd, Dom Shabbo, Nev Edwards and Lorne Ward.

Mantella, now third in the try-scorers chart this season, only came off the bench with 10 minutes left, emphasising the strength in depth at Bonney's disposal.

"There is a good buzz about the place and everyone is putting pressure on themselves and I hope that continues," added Bonney.

"We have a happy squad of players because people are getting their chance.

"It is a very difficult situation for me as everyone is putting their hand up at the moment but it is a good situation to have."
