Saqui Restaurant, previously named Saqui Tandoori Restaurant, is a place that deserves more praise. Situated in 312 Richmond Road, Kingston upon Thames KT2 5QU, this restaurant has been standing for 32 years, a true testament on just how good this place is.
As I walked into the newly renovated Saqui with its dark, red carpets and glistening chandelier at the centre of the room, I felt comfortable. The atmosphere was relaxing although the space a bit small. Booking before would be advised due to the space restrictions but you can easily have a takeaway. I immediately smelt the delicious fumes of curry and was welcomed warmly by the waiters, then shown a table and sat down swiftly. For those less specialized about foreign food, you can get plenty of advice as to what to choose from the various dishes on the menu. Once I finally decided, I waited for my lamb tikka as my starter and a range of other dishes for my main course and was soothed by Indian music in the background and relaxed by the comfy chairs.
The food arrived after a decent amount of time and as I put the first spoonful of rice in my mouth I knew I came to the right place. The food was exquisite, in fact the best curry that I have ever tasted, better than any other restaurant selling Indian cuisine that I have been at and tasted from. What baffled me the most was why the place was so quiet. This restaurant deserves so much more publicity and a higher acclaim, one the reasons as to why I have written this article.
I strongly recommend visiting Saqui Restaurant if you want a peaceful night out. The prices are reasonable and the food is definitely of the highest standards. You can be assured that you won’t be disappointed.
