My name’s Hannah Rogers, I’m seventeen, and my first book is out publically this Monday.

“Art of Deduction” is a book that I’ve been working on for a long time and it’s not been easy. A collaborative work of art and writing about Sherlock Holmes, this book has been under work for approximately a year via the internet.

There are many charities involved in the creation of this book: the money is going to “Help for Heroes” and dedications to the “The Undershaw Preservation Trust” are inside. The Undershaw Preservation Trust is less known charity attempting to aid the preservation of the home of Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The choice of charity was not easy but the book was decided to be charitable right from the beginning. As a book with dozens of contributors it was decided that making profit would be impossible to organise. So I decided to donate to “Help for Heroes” when the Undershaw Preservation Trust was found to be unsuitable for donations, as it has a lot of connections to Holmes’ assistant Watson, who he met following returning from the Army in Afghanistan. (A strange coincidence considering the story originally happened in the late 1800’s.)

Community donations to the book have been widely ranged in skill and location, with drawings and writing reaching me from all over the world. Fans of Sherlock Holmes have been swelling in number thanks to multiple adaptions being released recently, including BBC’s Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch of the soon to be released Star Trek film and Martin Freeman of The Hobbit fame. (No small help has come from #1 American adaptation Elementary and the series of films starring Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law.)

The book has been published by mxPublishing and is a wonderful collection of work, worth reading regardless of its charitable causes.
