The RA homes wonderful exhibitions of varying tastes and mediums. It is a powerhouse for the latest art, revered artists and expert led seminars on topics within the art world. What is so special about it you may ask? Well, from the moment you walk in the elegantly designed revolving door, the building screams decadence. From the marble floors to the arched ceilings and the grand staircase that leads you from the foyer to the main show hall; it all has the same resonance as somewhere on the Upper East Side in Manhattan (I, of course, only living vicariously through Carrie Bradshaw.) Not only is the building spectacular, but the culture that culminates under one roof is astonishing; often artists from across the globe come to speak and lead workshops to pass on the creativity and passion they feel for their art. Lisa Reynolds who often frequents the academy commented, ‘The place is magical, who couldn’t love it? I’ve been going for years to all the main events and I always look forward to it!’

Past exhibitions have included David Hockney and the annual Summer Exhibition saw pieces of Tracey Emin, Frederick Cuming and John Maine up for sale and was overall, curated beautifully. Bronze; the exhibition currently showing in the central hall, offers something more than paint on canvas, and instead brings 3D work into play, depicting the use of metal to create exquisite pieces, which tie together seamlessly – and is well worth a visit!

If you haven’t already visited the Royal Academy of Arts, I strongly suggest you take a trip to discover the smaller exhibitions the RA hosts – as well as the larger ones – as they are sometimes even more inspiring, as they have a sense of intimacy and depth to them, that only a smaller gallery room can create. If you’re looking for inspiration, the RA is most certainly the place to go.
