Tell me about the scheme
“Its run by a company called……and it’s a global scheme and what you have to do is come up with a new product, a new business venture that has a gap in the market and come up with loads of research on it.
So how did you get involved?
There was a teacher in my school who did enterprise things and she told us about it in assembly. She said there was a company doing a one week summer programme and she recommended that we get involved.
So what was your product?
Our product was a detachable heel. So you have a high heel shoe so you can take out the heel and it turns to a flat. It’s a two-in-one shoe.
So how did the idea come up?
We were split into groups of five although one member of our team dropped out so we were a four! So we were sitting down and talking about the problems we face in our everyday lives. Women often complain about heels so that’s how we came up with it.
So what was the process of the scheme?
The first stage was against people in our school. After that it’s a national competition and then it becomes a European one. Then after that it’s the global finals and if you win that you get to go to New York.
Do you think it was worthwhile?
Yes, you learn lots of skills, meet a lot of people. It’s very rewarding.
