A man has been sent to hospital after colliding with a tram heading to Wimbledon at Reeves Corner this morning. The collision occurred at approximately 7:20am this morning as he was travelling to work.

The man, who is said to be in his mid-forties, was rushed to Croydon University Hospital (formerly Mayday Hospital) with minor injuries to his leg. A spokesman from the London Ambulance Service said that paramedics were sent straight away, but the man’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Initial reports from the scene said that the man was trapped underneath the thirty-ton tram, so Fire-fighters from Croydon’s local station were sent immediately to the crash, only to find the man had been pulled free from the colossal vehicle.

After trams were temporarily suspended in the Croydon area, they are now running normally. Buses are too now running normally after initial delays.

Officers remain at the scene, and passengers should no longer expect delays.
