On Tuesday 19th February, a 50-year-old woman caused travel disruption as she wandered onto the train tracks at Mortlake. The power had to be turned off when the officers from the British Transport Police came to retrieve her.
The incident was reported to the police just after 7pm and she was taken to Charing Cross Hospital for an assessment.
A man who was on the train to Windsor and Eton Riverside, said that he was delayed on the train for an hour. All he experienced was announcements, the power going off and then the lady being led down the London-bound platform as they took her away.
On the plus side he said that he was impressed by the communication of South West Train employees. The guard and driver were in constant communication with the passengers explaining the situation and what was being done about it. He said that the mood onboard was much more accepting compared to usual train delays and that the passengers seemed pretty reassured that they were doing their best to deal with the situation, quickly and safely.
Other services to Waterloo on the Hounslow route were disrupted for around two hours. A spokesman for South West Trains said, “As a result, there were minor delays to train services in the area until around 9:30pm and passengers were offered other alternative routes via buses and the London Underground”.
