Many students in Merton are now experiencing have done their mock GCSE, A-level or AS exams or they are going through the procedure of currently revising for them. And from someone who has been doing mocks from GCSE’S since my GCSE exams last year, I can tell that it has been a very stressful experience as they indicate at what stage you are  The mock results are there as a guideline for the student as well as the teacher, as to assess how well the student is doing.   The mocks are usually taken near the real exam time or usually half way through the year so the student can pick up on any mistakes and quickly learn from them it. Some A-level students have told me their experiences on mocks.

Here is what one local student had to say, ‘Even though mocks are a time of revision you still need to balance revision with relaxation, as you shouldn’t get too carried away with the revising, that working too hard can have a negative impact on your brain meaning you may not be able to perform as well.’

Another student commented by saying, ‘That mocks on one hand can be more nerve-racking for me than taking the real exams as it’s it is the first take time you are taking an ‘exam’  in exam conditions, however the results can be taken with a much less pinch of salt as these tests are not the final exam.’

There are many tips to be given to for people still studying, whether you are at university or still in high school the same rules apply, like giving yourself plenty of time to revise before the exams - don’t leave it to last minute and  so you come back from school or uni and just go over what you did or you could make schedule on about when to revise and when to have fun. And Revising doesn’t just need to be ‘swotting’ everything into your brain you can use different methods like using mnemonics to remember definitions or you could get together with a group of friends and act out a battle for History. Whatever you decide to do remember try to make time to have fun - but even  not too much, can be bad and just organise your time and life and surely enough you’ll get the grades you desire.
