Known for its multicultral community and green spaces, Acton is an up and coming area in a prime location. A local resident, Sheryl Hall, gives her views on the area.

How long have you lived in your local area?

I grew up around this area, moved away from a time then moved back ten years ago and have been living here ever since. So, for around twenty years in total.

How do you think Acton has changed over time?

It has become a lot more multicultural with the people and services and shops available. Acton used to have a lot more large chain store shops, however they went once Ealing Broadway and Westfields shopping centre opened. This means that there are a lot of small businesses instead. Acton used to have three cinemas when my Grandparents lived here and historically Acton was known for its laundry services but all of this was before I was born.

What do you think it has to offer?

Acton has excellent transport links, with multiple train stations and countless buses passing through the area, making it easy for people to commute into the city for work purposes. It has plently of green spaces, making it quite a picturesque area. The parks are a lovely place for families and friends to meet and take their children.

What are your favourite places to go in Acton?

I enjoy going to the parks, especially on hot days for a nice picnic. I like to go to a restaurant called Anokha which is a hidden treasure offering authentic Indian cusisine.

What leisure activites are available in Acton?

There are a number of gyms in Acton to suit all price ranges. There is a swimming pool which is currecntly undergoing refurbishment, a library and cycle paths to encourage bike riding.

What do you think would attract people to live in your local area?

The parks, the transport services, the gyms and the diversity of the people in the area.
