The 28th February 2013 marks the beginning of a spectacular, short succession of fabulous ballet performances exclusive to only a few theatres around the country. Luckily for the residents of Wimbledon, The New Wimbledon Theatre has the pleasure of being a location where the Russian State Ballet of Siberia will occupy for three whole nights in succession. They are displaying both the story of Swan Lake and the story of Coppelia. These are blockbuster performances filled with over two hours of magical dancing, music and costumes.
The Russian State Ballet of Siberia was founded in 1981, is based in Krasnoyarsk and is led by artistic director Sergei Bobrov. It has an impeccable reputation and is highly respected throughout Russia and the world. They have firmly established themselves as one of Russia’s leading ballet companies. They will be accompanied also by the Russian State Ballet Orchestra which will only add to the impact of the production.
They will be firstly telling the story of Coppelia on Thursday 28th February. The second story will have three performances spread across two days and is the tale of Swan Lake. This is an enchanting and popular performance and is filled with love and emotion aided by Tchaikovsky’s entrancing score. In both stories there is sure to be a wealth of dazzling costumes as well as breath-taking dancing and physical ability.
There are still tickets available for all performances of Swan Lake on both the 1st and the 2nd March in the New Wimbledon Theatre.
