After the emergence of another major incident of racism in football, I was granted the privilege to chat with a young football fan, Aidan Kennedy, about what he thought of the topic; I Began: What do you think of Racism in football?
"Well, I think its disgusting! Every player should be treated with equal rights. No matter what colour they are, if they're good at football, they should be allowed to play wherever they please."
What do you think of the recent issue, regarding Mario Balotelli in the Milan Derby?
"Oh, its disgraceful. It appears the Italian fans are now known for their racist traits. I just find it appalling. I don't see why a fantastic striker like Balotelli should have to face that sort of discrimination just because of the colour of his skin."
In your opinion what would be a good solution for racism in football?
"Well they've got to have a zero tolerance policy. However, to be frank, I don't think racism will never be kicked out of football. The problem is with the fans who attend the game; they can't be spotted, because there are so many of them and so we don't know who the culprits are. But if it would be possible, they should single out the racial fans, and ban them from attending football games completely. This will surely deter the majority of fans from being racist."
What do you think of the incident that occurred in Lyon regarding anti-Semitism?
"Personally, It feel it shouldn't be a part of football; violence should not be tolerated. No one deserves to be judged based on their religion, race, etcetera. I think its ridiculous that fans would go around the down, targeting Jewish people. I find it shameful."
So, what can be done? Will it ever stop?
