Who inspires you? A celebrity? A family member? A friend? Throughout our whole lives we have been surrounded by people who we admire and look up to. Whether we want to be a teacher or a singer, we've usually all been inspired by someone to follow our dreams.
Take me, for example. After watching the first Harry Potter movie I wanted to be a wizard and go to Hogwarts .Okay, maybe a bit unrealistic, but the actors and actress who portrayed the characters made me want to start acting, and since then I haven't been able to stop. Or take the time when I first read Matilda, Roald Dahl's subtle and gripping text made me sit down and write my own stories. If you just take the time to look around you, you'll see that you've been inspired in almost everything you do. Maybe someone close to you gives you inspiration, like a parent or a friend. It's always good to listen and respect what they're doing, because one day we might decide that we want to travel down similar paths as them, and it's always a good thing to have those around you who have gone through the same experiences.
Last summer the world's biggest event was held in London,The 2012 Olympic Games, and London decided that they wanted to 'inspire a generation' through the hard work and achievements of all the athletes competing in the games. Sporting stars like Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis made big impressions on the world after winning gold in all of their events, and people of all ages put on their running shoes and went out to do some sport, showing just how much power a couple of people can have on a whole nation. Since the end of the games, I have definitely seen an increase in the number of people running around my local area; vmy younger sister even started tennis lessons after witnessing Andy Murray win his medals.
Maybe one day you'll be able to inspire people too, and just like Roald Dahl once said, "Having power is not nearly as important as what you choose to do with it". So, the next time you have a spare minute, think about the people who have given you the courage and inspiration to follow your dreams and create your own future, and be very thankful that you have them in your lives.
