Countries across the globe feature a variety of communities from religious to regional communities. However was Sutton built around a strong sense of community spirit, or a lack of interaction between people?

Many people see community spirit as have dipped in the last few decades, but that does not in any way prove that there is a lack of society. The main arguments behind these allegations refer to neighbours being less friendly, and not knowing everybody on your road. However, I see this as being more due to the increasing populous resulting in there being more people to meet.

If you look for the benefits in the modern community, you will still find the fundamentals – the community still aims to achieve the best for its residents. Local authorities across the country (including Sutton) provide an extensive range of services for the population of the area. Sutton offers everything from a library to sports facilities. There is even a Sutton Youth Parliament which aims to encourage teenagers and young adults to take pride in their neighbourhood and strive to improve it.

Millie Luckyram said, “Sutton has a sense of community because there are loads of events to bring people together, however it’s not as much of a community as some other places.”
